A guide to Bathroom Furniture

Your bathroom deserves as much attention as any other room in your house. Doing it up right will not only increase its visual appeal but also add to your own comfort level here. How does one turn an ordinary toilet into a space that’s as beckoning as any other at home? By adding the right bathroom furniture of course! However, it can be a bit overwhelming to zero in on the right stuff if you’re new to buying for the bathroom. So here’s a guide to help make it all easier.

Bathroom Furniture
The size of your bathroom space is an important factor to consider when buying bathroom furniture. Being familiar with the space measurements will help narrow down your choices. For instance, if you have limited bathroom area, space saving alternatives such as wall mounted shelves would help serve your purpose. On the other hand, with a larger bathroom, you have the option of choosing from a wide range of free standing furniture such as vanity or floor units, cabinets, etc. for storage.

Don’t despair if you have a smaller than average sized bathroom though. The limited space shouldn’t prevent you from jazzing it up with the right bathroom furniture. There are several options that have been specifically designed to work in tight areas. Corner units are popular for this bathroom style simply because they don’t jut out or take up more space. Storage units that fit neatly under wash basins or fit over the toilet are recommended as well. Also, check out your local bathroom designer store to find space saving lines created for boutique bathrooms.

To create a chic atmosphere within your bathroom, always find furniture that is well coordinated with the rest of the space. A contemporary styled room would be best offset with white minimalist furnishings.  Light colors that match the shade of your tiles, or fittings are also consistent with the contemporary look. For storage space, use units made of glass for a sleek and stylish finish.

A traditional style bathroom on the other hand, should ideally boast of furniture made of wood or dark colors. Oak may be used to create a particularly homely and rustic feel in your bathroom. Ensure that other fittings such as your wash basin, taps, etc; compliment the color scheme of the space. Choose Victorian/Edwardian furniture for a more authentic traditional ambience.

Finally, if you like to indulge yourself and have a decent sized bathroom to boot; you may consider getting a whirlpool baths installed.  At the end of a longish and tiring day, all you have to do is return here and sink into the tub for a relaxing and refreshing soak to wash all your stress away.
